Vienna,2020-11-12 - The COVID-19 pandemic and the measures to contain it have varying impacts on Austria's social, ecological and economic sustainability goals. A predominantly negative effect of the crisis on the development of the sustainability goals is to be expected for seven out of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - especially those concerning health, economic growth or employment. For seven other goals, for example in the area of environmental and climate protection, an only slightly negative or even positive effect is likely. The impact on goals concerning land ecosystems as well as peace and justice is still unclear at present. This is the result of the monitoring of the 17 sustainability goals in the current 'SDG-Indicators-Report' by Statistics Austria.
