GOPC Developing a Regional Housing Strategy for Mahoning Valley

Last week, GOPC was in the Mahoning Valley holding a stakeholder meeting with local leaders who want to see more housing stability and more housing options in the region.

GOPC is working with Eastgate, the regional council of government and metropolitan planning organization, to develop a regional housing strategy for Mahoning and Trumbull Counties.

GOPC and our subconsultant, Reinvestment Fund, were in the Mahoning Valley this week sharing our interim research findings. Several dozen people attended the public information event and offered important feedback and insights on how the research team is classifying neighborhood market strength and how housing cost-burden is being experienced by different vulnerable populations in the region.

The next phase of the project will include interviews. GOPC will be collecting comments and perspectives this summer and developing recommended strategies.

GOPC expects to finish developing the housing strategy in Q4 2024.
