Design and Painting in Watercolor Workshop
Visual Art League of Lewisville presents Design and Painting in Watercolor Workshop
The Visual Art League of Lewisville presents a free Design and Painting in Watercolor Workshop, led by Murthy Mantha, 1 p.m.-4 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles Street.
Mantha is a long-standing member of the Visual Arts League, Lewisville, serves on the Irving Art Association board and a member of many local/national art organizations. He recently received the artist of the month award at Irving Art Association and had a solo exhibit of 50+ paintings. His large chalk art and an Old Town Lewisville oil painting can be seen at Lewisville Grand Theater. His artistic inquiry is division of pictorial space and arrangement of light.
Mantha will present concepts of design and composition that are so fundamental to artwork in any medium. He will demonstrate some approaches for division of pictorial space for landscape paintings using shapes and values in watercolors. He also will suggest some tips for painting from photographs without being tied to the original image. There will be lots of hands-on exercises for the attendees.
Visual Art League of Lewisville is one of eight local groups receiving funding from the City of Lewisville through a grant program designed to foster cultural and fine arts in the community.
The Grand is Lewisville's home for the arts. It presents a variety of regional and national touring performers, art exhibits, and classes, while also giving the many arts groups in the greater Lewisville area a facility to perform and display their works. Its multiple performance spaces play host to a variety of events, including live music, theater, dance performances, comedy shows, and more. The center features a 294-seat performance hall, black box theater, recital hall, art gallery, and courtyard.
To reach The Grand from I-35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. The Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center.
