Chairwoman Johnson Applauds Nomination of Dr. Rick Spinrad for NOAA Administrator

(Washington, DC) - Yesterday, President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate former Chief Scientist of NOAA, Dr. Rick Spinrad, to serve as Undersecretary for Oceans and Atmosphere and NOAA Administrator.
'I am excited to see the Biden-Harris Administration name Dr. Rick Spinrad to lead the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.' said Chairwoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX).'A distinguished scientist with many accomplishments in the field of oceanography, Dr. Spinrad is well-respected by his peers in the scientific community. Having previously served as NOAA's Chief Scientist in the Obama-Biden Administration, I know that scientific integrity will be a guiding principle of Dr. Spinrad's tenure leading NOAA, an agency that straddles the dual missions of providing both science and services. I look forward to working closely with Dr. Spinrad to support NOAA's efforts to provide the most accurate weather and climate data, science, and support services for the American people.'
