16-Year-Old Charged for Killing Cat

April 25, 2024, Peoria, IL - Today, the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office charged a 16-year-old male with Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and Depiction of Animal Cruelty for killing a cat by throwing it out of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. He also made a Snapchat video of the incident and sent it to three people. The court released the defendant from custody over the prosecutor's objection.

Due to the charges and the defendant's lack of criminal history, the case is not eligible for transfer to adult court and will remain in juvenile court.
