PHOENIX - Pecos Road will be closed this weekend between 40th Street and the Interstate 10/Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) interchange as construction continues on the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Those traveling to and from the Ahwatukee Foothills can use alternate routes, including Chandler Boulevard.
The closure lasting from 10 p.m. Friday, April 5, until 5 a.m. Monday, April 8, will allow Connect 202 Partners, the South Mountain Freeway developer, to remove barriers and install intelligent transportation system technology such as ramp meters and traffic counters, along with installing traffic signals and lighting.
The I-10 ramps to and from Pecos Road will be closed in both directions.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
