City Manager’s Project Update: Water and Sewer Improvements

Construction to replace and upgrade aged-out water and sewer pipes in Santa Rosa's Grace neighborhood is nearly complete and two months ahead of schedule. This investment in our water infrastructure is essential for protecting our community's water future.

The water and sewer project, located on East Haven Drive from Eleanor Avenue to East Foothill Drive, Hawthorne Court, Iris Court, and along Eleanor Avenue, replaced 1,550 feet of water pipe and 2,150 feet of sewer pipe that were installed in the 1940s and 50s. This $2.6 million investment in our community's public water system included upsizing the water mains to increase fire flow and will result in reduced maintenance costs associated with breaks and leaks from aged pipes. The neighborhood improvements included upgrading six sidewalk curb ramps to current ADA-compliance and completely repaving the neighborhood streets throughout the project site.

The ability to provide high-quality drinking water and reliable wastewater collection is crucial for the well-being of our community. This requires ongoing maintenance, repairs, and modernization of our water infrastructure, which is funded through water rates and fees. Our dedicated engineers, technicians, and water system operators are committed to this task. We are constantly identifying improvement projects and securing necessary funding to enhance our public water system. By investing in modernization efforts, we're not just maintaining infrastructure, we're investing in the health of the community.
