2020-21 Qualifiers for majors, THE PLAYERS, WGCs

As the winner of the 2020 U.S. Open, Bryson DeChambeau already was exempt into every tournament included on this page before his victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard on Sunday. However, his one-stroke win at Bay Hill secured a return to the top of the FedExCup standings where he last stood at the conclusion of the Vivint Houston Open four months ago. It's also worth noting that he's the first to win multiple events of this super season. The API was the 22nd of 50 in 2020-21.

DeChambeau's repeated success opens more space to give attention to how the field for THE PLAYERS Championship was completed.

For various reasons, Zac Blair, Bud Cauley, Brooks Koepka, Matthew Wolff and Tiger Woods will not play. There already was one opening, so to fill a traditional field of 144, golfers outside the top 10 in the 2020-21 FedExCup standings at the conclusion of last week's doubleheader (on Feb. 28) and not currently eligible gained entry in order of position.

The six spots went to Doug Ghim (63rd in points on Feb. 28), Patton Kizzire (73rd), Andrew Putnam (78th), Cameron Percy (89th), Jhonattan Vegas (92nd) and Anirban Lahiri (104th).

As noted in this space when it was announced in late February, every golfer inside the top 125 in the 2019-20 FedExCup standings also wasgranted an exemption as an add-on to the field of 144. It's a traditional conduit of entry but the special points list that extended through Feb. 28replaced it before both were used.

Ten golfers listed beneath 'Top 125 on the 2019-20 FedExCup Points List' in Inside the Field qualified via this late decision. Because each is an add-on, should any withdraw early, he will not be replaced. If none withdraw, the field will stand at 154.

NOTE: Golfers are omitted if they recently haven't competed in majors for which they are eligible (e.g. PGA Championship=David Toms; The Open Championship=Justin Leonard).
