The center is equipped with an exhibition area, shared working space, conference room, and roadshow area. YITU, a unicorn start-up based in Shanghai, installed facial recognition entrance system, and more local innovations and technologies will be exhibited at the center.

The UNIDO's Shanghai investment promotion center was set up in 2001, and it's supported by the UNIDO, China's Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai Municipal Government. The center's goal was to attract foreign investment and technologies to Shanghai, and to support China's capital and technologies to enter other developing countries and economic bodies in transition.

Zhao Xiaolei, director of the UNIDO's Shanghai investment promotion center, said the center will take advantage the UNIDO's global investment promotion networks and database to help local companies, governments, and investment promotion agencies to attract investment, technologies, techniques, while promoting sustainable innovation projects in developing countries.

In order to promote global investment and technology transfer, the center will take advantage of the UNIDO's influence to create training courses, investment evaluation software, green innovation parks' evaluation standards, business environment evaluation systems for the innovation parks, governments, and investment promotion agencies across the country.

Also, the center will set up a special committee on industry collaborative innovation development, an overseas merging special committee, and a corporate management special committee, which will aggregate professionals and experts onto one platform to share knowledge and research findings among industries, governments and related agencies, as well as match-making cooperation among companies and regions.

In addition, the center will set up a road show center that docks technological innovation projects with capital, attracting investment projects and companies with promising projects. The center will help the global innovation enterprises' projects and products to be exhibited at the road show center to create opportunities to dock with capital, technologies, and potential business partners.
