Appeal for information from women who have been sexually assaulted in East Finchley

Detectives in Barnet are appealing for information from any women who have been sexually assaulted in the East Finchley and Fortis Green area.

Officers have charged a man with sexual assault (by touching) on a female, relating to an incident on 24 August in the High Road, N2, near the junction with Creighton Avenue, in which a woman was followed and grabbed from behind.

However, they believe other women have been assaulted in a similar way, and are asking anyone who has been the victim of a similar offence in the East Finchley area to contact them.

The investigating officer, DC Jackie McKenzie-Bell, said: 'It is important that we receive all available information about what I believe were a series of offences between May and August this year.

'Some other women have come forward, and I would urge any victims who have not yet reported any incidents to please speak to police.

'I also want to hear from anyone who witnessed incidents in which a man appeared to assault a woman by grabbing her in this way.'

Anyone with information or anyone who has been a victim is asked to call Barnet CID on 020 8733 4125. Witnesses can remain anonymous by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
