Kelly Ayotte To Campaign in VA With Gov. Glenn Youngkin After He Vetoes Protections for Contraception

Just days after Gov. Glenn Youngkin waited until the dead of night to veto a bill protecting access to contraception, Fox News reports that former U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte will be traveling to Virginia to fundraise alongside him next month.

In 2023, Gov. Youngkin was dealt major losses in Virginia legislative races after pushing for a harmful 15-week abortion ban.

Similarly, Kelly Ayotte's anti-abortion agenda is a trademark of her time in office. In the Senate, Ayotte led the charge for a national abortion ban, called for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and voted against funding for Planned Parenthood. Ayotte also voted for the Blunt amendment, which would have given insurers and employers the ability to deny coverage for any care, including birth control, abortion, and IVF treatment. After losing reelection in 2016, Ayotte went on to serve as the "sherpa" for Neil Gorsuch's Supreme Court nomination, paving the way for Roe to be overturned

"If Kelly Ayotte thinks Glenn Youngkin's policies - which have failed in Virginia - will be popular in the Granite State, she's more out of touch with New Hampshire voters than we thought," said DGA States Press Secretary Emma O'Brien. "Gov. Youngkin's extreme anti-choice policies were resoundingly rejected by Virginia voters in 2023, and in 2024, New Hampshire voters will do the same to Kelly Ayotte."
