Dear Cumberland Residents,

The Cumberland Town Council received notice of a resignation for a Cumberland Representative to the MSAD 51 School Board. Under State law and the Town Charter, the Town Council is responsible for appointing an interim School Board member to fill this vacancy until the next regular municipal election in June 2023.

School Board members must have been residents of the Town of Cumberland for at least one year immediately preceding their appointment and must reside in Town during their term of office. The Town Council is requesting that citizens interested in serving the remaining term on the School Board to submit a letter of interest. Letters must be received by the Town no later than 4:00 PM on July 7th.

Applications will be reviewed the week of July 11th and interviews for selected candidates with the full Town Council will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, beginning at 6:00 PM. The Town Council may vote on their selection as soon as their July 25, 2022, meeting.
