The distributed generation projects will produce a total of 38.3 MWh and are spread across 7 US states.

EDP Renováveis, the fourth largest producer of renewable energy in the world, has just strengthened its already close relationship with Walmart, with the completion of 39 more solar energy projects signed between 2020-2021.

This new and important step in a partnership started in 2020, thus increases to 51 the total of distributed generation projects with the multinational retailer, installed in 7 different US States (Arizona, California, Illinois, New Jersey, Louisiana, Maryland and Carolina southern). The contracts were signed by EDP R's subsidiary in the country, EDP Renewables North America.

The contracts, which materialize in projects that range from roof installations to ground building, will produce a total of 38.3 MWh of energy per year, which will also allow to avoid, annually, 27.1 tons of carbon dioxide or 9, 2 tons of recycled waste, that will no longer be deposited in landfills.

Using the latest equipment in terms of environmental innovation, EDPR has been working with Walmart to support the creation of a pioneering ecological solar pollination process, namely through the ground building of a set of solar panels in the distribution center of the north american multinational company in Laurens, South Carolina.

In 2019, EDPR NA's DG New Jersey portfolio, which consisted of five solar installations for Walmart, won the Large Scale Project of the Year award from Solar Builder Magazine. Walmart Bayonne Supercenter was the outstanding winner of the award.
