Outstanding BBC achievements celebrated at the 2022 ARIAs awards

The winners of the 2022 ARIAs were announced last night, with BBC programmes and presenters taking home 13 Gold awards.

BBC Radio 4 was recognised as a standout station, winning awards in nine categories, including six prestigious gold awards. Today received Best News Coverage for their reporting of the trial of the killing of George Floyd and Woman's Hour received two gold awards: for presenter Emma Barnett who was awarded Best Speech Presenter, and for their investigation Trafficked in Plain Sight led by reporter Carolyn Atkinson, which won The Impact Award. The award for Best Factual (Single Programme) went to 'The Nazi Next Door'. Radio 4 drama and comedy was celebrated on the night, with Best Fictional Storytelling going to Little Blue Lines, and The Comedy Award going to satirical series The Skewer.

Gold awards also went to BBC Radio 1Xtra, recognised as the Best Station Sound, and BBC Radio 5 Live, who took home the award for Best Sports Show for 'Fight of the Century'.

The exceptional achievements of local stations were particularly highlighted. BBC Radio Kent picked up the award for Best Speech Breakfast Show, while BBC Radio Merseyside secured Best Coverage of An Event for their coverage of Liverpool Together.
