Ann Wagner Voted to Block Child Tax Credit Payments for Thousands of Missouri Parents

Today, thanks to Democrats in Congress, the parents of 111,000 children in Missouri's 2nd Congressional District will receive their first monthly Child Tax Credit payment.

Republican Ann Wagner put politics over the wellbeing of families in her district when she voted against urgently-needed pandemic relief earlier this year. The rescue legislation has already sent $1,400 checks to working Missourians, helped small businesses reopen, and supported struggling industries like restaurants and music venues.

Now, starting today, monthly Child Tax Credit payments will land in the bank accounts of Missouri parents, offering working families a lifeline and securing a stronger future for the nation's children - and Ann Wagner tried to block every dollar.

The Child Tax Credit benefit will:

  • Support 111,000 kids in MO-02;
  • Provide up to $300 per month per child for children under six years of age;
  • Provide up to $250 per month per child for children six to 17 years of age; and
  • Help working Americans cover the costs of child care, prepare for the back-to-school season, and get parents back in the workforce, helping American families make ends meet.

'Missourians are recovering from a historic crisis - but when Ann Wagner had her chance to deliver help to families in her district and lift thousands of children out of poverty, she voted NO,' said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. 'Her vote against monthly Child Tax Credit payments shows she couldn't care less about supporting working parents. We can thank House Democrats for understanding the realities middle-class families face and fighting to ensure everyday Americans were provided with this relief.'
