Memorial Sloan Kettering is proud to announce that President & Chief Executive Officer Craig B. Thompson, MD, Director of the Center for Health Policy and Outcomes Peter B. Bach, MD, Vice President of Scientific Education & Training Ushma Neill, PhD, and Postdoctoral Research Fellow William E. Rosa, PhD, are included on the Crain's New York Business 2021 Notable in Health Care list.
This year's list honors New York City's healthcare professionals-who are indisputably the heroes of the Covid-19 pandemic. Included in this report are the leaders of some of the top hospitals in the world, right here in New York City. Among this group are the heads of insurance companies and nonprofit organizations, city officials, entrepreneurs, scientists and physicians. These honorees have distinguished themselves through their expertise and innovation. They have shown stamina and commitment throughout the pandemic in addition to their professional, civic, and philanthropic achievements.
Dr. Thompson is a member of the Medical Advisory Board of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a member of the Lasker Prize jury, and Associate Editor of the journals Cell, Cell Metabolism, Cancer Discovery, and Cancer Cell. He holds a number of patents related to immunotherapy and apoptosis and is a founder of three biotechnology companies. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Medicine, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Society for Clinical Investigation, and the Association of American Physicians. He is also a fellow of the American Association for Cancer Research Academy.Back to top
Dr. Bach has been inducted into the National Academy of Medicine, American Society of Clinical Investigators, and the Johns Hopkins University Society of Scholars. He served as a Senior Advisor for Cancer Policy at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services in 2005 and 2006. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and editorials in scientific journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association.Back to top
Dr. Neill spent two years as a manuscript editor at Nature Medicine, and then joined the Journal of Clinical Investigation as Executive Editor. During her nine-year tenure there, she led academic editorial boards at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and Duke University/University of North Carolina in identifying, soliciting, and peer reviewing high-quality manuscripts.Back to top
Dr. Rosa is an International Council of Nurses Global Nursing Leadership Institute Scholar, an American Psychosocial Oncology Society Health Equity Scholar, and the International Association for Hospice & Palliative Care USA Advocacy Focal Point. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American College of Critical Care Medicine, and the New York Academy of Medicine.
