Slip into Spring: “A-peel-ing” Public Art Installation in the Heritage District, April 1 - May 2

No joke! Starting April 1, visitors to Gilbert's Heritage District can plan for 'bunches' of fun when they check out downtown's new public art installation, Slip into Spring. This pop-up experience will be set up on Hearne Way, east of Gilbert Road, featuring a banana-themed rest stop in downtown Gilbert. The larger-than-life modular banana is 8 feet tall by 13 feet wide and features a variety of seating options to bask in the glow of the day's rays or sit under the illuminating hoop lights at night.

The Town of Gilbert is again partnering with Austin-based LeMonde Studios on the installation in the core of the district. LeMonde Studios specializes in green entertainment combining interactive art with human-powered fun. The installation features a peeled banana with seating for up to six guests and an adjacent single banana seat that accommodates up to 3 persons. Part of the installation is a mushroom crank-powered music box featuring the sounds of Gilbert Symphony Orchestra. The featured song, titled Cowboys, features a jovial Southwestern-inspired tune.

Slip into Spring will be on display April 1 - May 2. The community is encouraged to share their social media posts and photos with friends and family to encourage visitation to the district and tag #DiscoverGilbert.

Springtime is a popular time in downtown Gilbert. Merchant specials and other spring-inspired offerings will be promoted all season long on DiscoverGilbert.com.
