Hillsborough Libraries Opens Asian Cultures to All

Online collections and digital exhibits celebrate Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month

In celebration of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative offers a selection of resources to explore these cultures.

Monday, May 16, at 6 p.m.

Learn about the history, mission, and exhibits of The Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center (APAC), a migratory museum that shares Asian Pacific American history, art, and culture through innovative experiences online and throughout the United States. Museum staff will be your guide for this presentation, which is followed by a live question -and-answer session with the audience. Registration is required.

In addition to the event, a selection of recommended reads, online exhibits, and digital collections are highlighted for those who want to further explore Asian American & Pacific Islander heritage.

If you missed How to Make Vietnamese Food Any Day, presented earlier in the month, it will be available on the HCPLC YouTube channel soon. It explores and traces the evolution of Vietnamese food traditions in the United States and features discussion on recipes and ingredients that make the cuisine irresistibly delicious and easy to prepare at home.

Visit HCPLC.org for access to all of the available resources.

Additionally, the public library will share books and other resources on social media to help you celebrate throughout May. You can follow the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library System @TampaHillsLib on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube or visit the library website.
