15-Year-Old Facing Vehicle Theft Charges Remains in Custody at the Juvenile Detention Center

April 30, 2024, Peoria, IL-Yesterday, the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office charged a 15-year-old male with Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Theft, both felonies, after he was arrested over the weekend. On Saturday, just before 1 a.m., police saw a stolen vehicle driving recklessly in the 1900 block of Peoria Ave. in the East Bluff. The defendant was identified as the vehicle's driver and was arrested after a short foot chase. He remains in custody at the Juvenile Detention Center.

As previously reported by the police, he was involved in a different vehicle theft incident a week ago. However, because that charge was a misdemeanor Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle he was not eligible for detention at that time.

This investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information regarding this incident, please contact the Peoria Police Department at 309-673-4521.
