2022 Route du Rhum: Emmanuel Le Roch eyes top 10 finish in the Edenred Class40

The Route du Rhum - another shot at the dream

'Impossible' is not a word in 50-year-old entrepreneur and sailor Emmanuel Le Roch's vocabulary. He had his first taste of his childhood dream when he competed for Edenred in the 2018 Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe.

"It's so great to be in Saint-Malo today for my second Route du Rhum. I've been training for this professionally, but it's such a big event that I still feel like a kid just thinking about it. The buzz around the docks, the sailors and the boats is just as intense year after year."

Le Roch's partnership with Edenred has been stepped up since the last Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe, with the sailor taking part in four seasons on the Class40 circuit, including two Transat Jacques Vabre races.
"The Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe has special significance for Edenred's teams and for Emmanuel Le Roch. The previous event in 2018 marked the beginning of our journey with a skipper whose entrepreneurial background reflects Edenred's values. Emmanuel and his fellow Team Edenred members Basile Bourgnon and Peyo Cremades have proved that hard work, determination and self-sacrifice can lead to great achievements," says Bertrand Dumazy, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Edenred Group.

Emmanuel Le Roch's achievements and ambitions

Since taking the helm of the new-generation Class40, Le Roch has demonstrated́ his determination and competitive skills by finishing in the top 10 in every event he has participated in.

"I like to throw myself into everything I do and the pressure of the sporting challenge pushes me to give it my all. I've had the opportunity to get to know this new Class40, benefiting from the experience of other sailors like Fred Duthil and Alexis Loison, who I sailed with this year. My fifth-place finish in the Class40 European Trophy is proof that hard work pays off. Now, I've got my sights set on a good ranking in the Route du Rhum," says Le Roch, who has been training at the Orlabay center in La Trinité-sur-Mer since the beginning of the year.

"The sporting caliber is high. Some of the best Figaro sailors on the circuit are taking part. Team Edenred has given itself the means to perform well, and I'm taking the helm with the aim of finishing in the top 10. That would be the best 50th birthday present of all," says the Edenred skipper.
