Celebrating Employees and Culture During Hispanic Heritage Month

You've probably heard by now, but we just celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month! Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Monthfrom September 15 to October 15 by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

As Hispanic Heritage Month draws to a close, we'd like to acknowledge the history, culture and contributions of the Hispanic community. This diverse group of people, in and out of LogMeIn,has helped us become stronger and more whole as an organization. Diversity breeds innovation and creativity and celebrating the many backgrounds and individuals across your company creates inclusivity.

This year we were lucky enough to celebrate our Latinx employees in several ways:

  1. Listening, gathering and sharing different book, podcast and video recommendations from our employees. These kinds of resources help unify people across different backgrounds. Here are a few to check out:
  2. Making a donation. Through Mission Possible, we made a donation to the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, a non-profit organization that identifies, inspires, prepares and positions Latino leaders in the classroom, community and workforce to meet America's priorities.
  3. Encouraging groups to engage in cultural discussions internally. Some of our LogMeIn employees got together to share their favorite foods from their respective ancestry. From enchiladas to tamalesand pepián, trying out new recipes and discussing traditions is a great way for employees to connect, inspire and learn about a colleague's life and culture. Some employees even shared their go-to playlists for reggaeton, bachata, cumbia and more!

Do you prefer listening to more upbeat or "chill" music throughout the day? Here are two playlists to satisfy either preference:

We look forward to continuing to learn about and support our Latinx employees who are making a difference at LogMeIn every day. Organizations that prioritize equity, diversity and inclusion create more collaborative and innovativeworkspaces - in and out of the office - and create healthier and richer company cultures.
