MORE AGGRESSIVE TREND OF ACUTE ILLNESS OF COVID-19 SEEN IN YOUNG PEOPLE

Director of Medical Services at the Covid-19 Care Complex, Dr. Adrien Dechausay says among young persons who have contracted the covid-19 virus a more aggressive trend of acute illness is seen. Dr. Dechausay says many of these young persons who may have recovered from the severe form of the illness are left with lung problems. He encouraged the young people to follow the guidelines put in place by the ministry of health, wellness and new health investment.

"These complete recovery of such patients are very much delayed and very much reserved. I want to take this opportunity to encourage our young people to avoid these cluster gatherings. Respect, observe and practice the health care guidelines ad protocols that are established by the Ministry of Health. Practice the respiratory etiquette, wear your mask, use an alcohol based sanitizer, wash your hands as often as possible and most importantly, if you are not vaccinated, if you haven't considered such, you should take on that responsible and consistent approach towards your health. Your health is your responsibility and you should get vaccinated," Dr. Dechausay explained.

As at Wednesday September 22, Dominica has five hundred and forty- five covid-19 active cases with 13 covid-19 deaths.
