Get fit and stay fit on campus at the VPH Student Health Center at LAVC and the LAVC Kinesiology Department's Spring 2018 Wellness & Fitness Happy Hour. Students, faculty and staff are invited to the Outdoor Boot Camp with Dave Mallas on April 18 at 5 p.m. in Monarch Stadium.
The Valley Presbyterian Hospital Student Health Center at LAVC and the LAVC Kinesiology Department is offering the campus community a series of free fitness activities called the 'Spring 2018 Wellness and Fitness Happy Hour'.
This series of 9 free wellness and fitness activities is designed to help motivate LAVC students, faculty and staff to live healthier lives by attending a free fitness class once a week (at different times each week) during the Spring semester.
Students, faculty and staff who are interested in attending should bring their student or staff ID. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes fit for exercising. Water and a light snack will be available to attendees. Free giveaway drawings will also take place at every workshop.
The following is a list of the Spring 2018 Wellness and Fitness Happy Hour activities*:
Rock Climbing with Gary Honjio on Thursday, March 15 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in Multipurpose Room 1 in the Community Services Center. Come learn to climb on the artificial rock wall on campus.
Tai Chi with Chauncey Maddren on Thursday, March 22 from 5-6 p.m. in Multipurpose Room 2 in the Community Services Center. Tai Chi is a type of martial arts that promotes balance & inner peace.
Foam Rolling with Patty Melody on Monday, March 26 from 1-2 p.m. in the Exercise Room in the North Gym. Come learn how to stretch, strengthen muscles & more using a foam roller.
Circuit Training with Louis Jones on Thursday, April 12 from 1-2 p.m. in the Fitness Center in the South Gym. Try circuit training where you perform a different exercise activity every 3-5 minutes.
Outdoor Boot Camp with Dave Mallas on Wednesday, April 18 from 5-6 p.m. in the Monarch Stadium track. This outdoor fitness program is designed to condition the body.
Walking with Sonia Nodal on Tuesday, May 1 from 10-11 a.m. at the Monarch Stadium track. Bring comfortable walking shoes.
