Bar admission ceremony welcomes new attorneys to the practice of law

The 143rd bar admission ceremony was held on Friday, April 12. Timothy Luce, Chair of the Iowa Board of Law Examiners served as the master of ceremonies and welcomed the successful applicants and their guests. Remarks were shared by Hon. Matthew McDermott, Iowa Supreme Court, Ian Russell, President of The Iowa State Bar Association (ISBA), Dillon Besser, President, ISBA Young Lawyers Division, and Alex Kornya, Iowa Legal Aid.

All in attendance were invited to attend a reception at the ISBA Building following the ceremony.

Representatives from 18 different law schools sat for the exam, with 53% taking the exam for the first time.

The July 2024 exam will be held at the Embassy Suites Downtown Des Moines on July 30-31.

The ISBA looks forward to welcoming all to the legal profession!
