Volleyball picked by GLVC's coaches to finish sixth in league

INDIANAPOLIS - The Bellarmine University volleyball team has been picked to finish sixth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the league's preseason coaches' poll.

The Knights totaled 153 points coming off a 20-10 campaign that featured a program-record 11-match winning streak. Lewis, which last year made a run to the Final Four, was selected as the preseason favorite after garnering 216 points and eight first-place votes. Rockhurst, the reigning GLVC Tournament champion, also received eight top votes and totaled 204 points in being picked No. 2.

Illinois Springfield (194 points) and Drury (177) followed at Nos. 3 and 4 after joining Lewis and Rockhurst in the NCAA Tournament last season while Indianapolis (172) was just ahead of Bellarmine at No. 5. Truman State (No. 7, 145), McKendree (No. 8, 131), new member Lindenwood (No. 9, 115) and Missouri-St. Louis (No. 10, 103) rounded out the top 10.

The Nos. 11-16 spots were comprised of Missouri S&T (No. 11, 91), Southern Indiana (No. 12, 59), William Jewell (No. 13, 57), Quincy (No. 14, 52), Maryville (No. 15, 28) and new member Southwest Baptist (No. 16, 23).
