"We are thrilled to be able to provide youth in our communities a variety of job opportunities through the Mayor's Summer Youth Jobs Program," said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. "With additional departments participating this year, our youth will be able to choose a job that best fits their skills and interests - allowing them to develop essential job skills such as communication, teamwork, and time management while also fostering community engagement."
Participants in the Mayor's Summer Youth Jobs Program must be ages 16-20 and can work up to 35 hours per week. Public Grounds positions may require a 7-hour shift. Applications and position descriptions are available online at https://cityofcharleston.applicantpro.com/jobs/. All MSYJP job postings include "Mayor's Summer Youth Jobs Program" in the job title. Youth who may be interested in multiple positions must apply for all positions individually.
Seasonal jobs are also available through the Parks and Recreation Department - including openings for certified lifeguards. Applications and position descriptions are available online at https://cityofcharleston.applicantpro.com/jobs/.
Youth needing assistance with completing an application can call Parks and Recreation at 304.348.6860 or stop by one of the community centers during regular operating hours. For a list of facilities and hours, visit https://www.charlestonwv.gov/government/city-departments/parks-recreation.
