Artists interested in participating in St. Elizabeth's Rotating Art Exhibit must complete an application, available at www.steliz.org/art. A portfolio of work is required and a committee of colleagues, community members and local artists oversee the art program to select exhibitors. Submissions for this fall's exhibit are due Oct. 1, 2019.
The program utilizes public space at the hospital for visual artists to display their work for an extended period of time, approximately five months per show. Currently the work of Rick Bayers is featured and the first artist on display was Sharon Aach. Prior to the art program's start, Aach's work was commissioned for the hospital during its construction and design. There are several pieces displayed prominently throughout St. Elizabeth's Hospital.
It is known that art can play a powerful role in bringing comfort and relief to those receiving treatment or care in a hospital setting. The Rotating Art Exhibit Program aims to showcase the work of local and regional artists while enhancing the healing environment inside the facility for patients, visitors and colleagues.
The artwork is prominently displayed on the first floor of the hospital in the hallway from the main lobby to the emergency department. The public is welcome to view each art installation during normal visiting hours.
All pieces in the current St. Elizabeth's exhibit are available for sale with 15% of all proceeds from art sales to be donated to HSHS St. Elizabeth's Foundation. If you are interested in purchasing any items, contact the artist directly at www.buckcreekstudio.com or www.rickbayers.com.
