Travelling From Dubai to the Maldives: The Latest Flight News and Status

Maldives entry regulations from Dubai

Travel eligibility

Passengers from Dubai travelling to the Maldives as tourists must have a confirmed hotel reservation for their stay at registered tourist facilities. The visa on arrival facility is currently available.

The United Arab Emirates and the Maldives are in the process of creating a travel corridorthat will allow vaccinated travellers to move freely between the two countries, even bypassing quarantine. As of now, no specific date has been revealed for this arrangement.

Required forms

Before travelling to the Maldives, you should complete the online Immigration and Health Self‑Declaration Form within 24 hours of your flight. A negative COVID‑19 PCR test result must be attached to the online Immigration and Health self-declaration form.

Testing requirements

All passengers travelling to the Maldives must present a negative COVID 19 PCR (nucleic acid) test result conducted within 96 hours of departure from Dubai. Passengers who have transited for more than 24 hours must repeat the test. The initial COVID‑19 PCR test for transit/transfer passengers is valid, provided their transit time is not more than 24 hours.

Passengers and airline crew are subject to medical screening on arrival.

The COVID‑19 test certificate must have the following information:

  • Name of the passenger (name as in passport)
  • Name and address of the testing laboratory
  • Type of test stated as PCR test
  • Date of sampling
  • Result

Exemptions

The following categories of travellers are exempted from pre‑arrival COVID‑19 PCR test requirements:

  • Children below one year of age
  • Flight crew arriving on General Declaration and not exceeding a stay of 7 days

Quarantine requirements

The following categories of passengers are required to undergo mandatory home quarantine for 14 daysin their place of residency or work:

  • Special visa holders whose duration of stay in the Maldives will be more than 7 days
  • Business visa holders whose duration of stay in the Maldives will be more than 7 days
  • Foreign diplomats and their accompanying family members
  • Maldivian citizens

The mandatory quarantine period for Work Permit Holders is 7 days, given that they present a negative PCR test taken 96 hours before departure and have completed 2 doses of a WHO recognized COVID-19 vaccine 2 weeks prior to the travel date. Individuals who do not fulfill this requirement shall complete 14 days of quarantine.

Exemptions

Individuals who have completed two doses of a WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccine2 weeks prior to travelling will be exemptedfrom the mandatory travel quarantine (within the Maldives), given that a negative PCR test (taken 72 hours prior to travel) is presented.

However, this approval should be obtained through the 'Haalubelun portal' in advance.

Flights from Dubai to the Maldives

Emirates operates daily direct flights from Dubai to Velana International Airport, Malé on all days of the week.

Connecting flights are also available with Oman Air, Gulf Air, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Aeroflot and Spicejet. However, watch out for the tediously long layovers.
