Arts Commission 8/24/2017 Metro Arts Announces Community Grant Awards: “Arts Build Communities” Grants Support Innovative, Impactful Projects

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 24, 2017- The Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission (Metro Arts) today announced $29,380 in grant awards to 15 nonprofit organizations in Davidson County as part of the Tennessee Arts Commission's Arts Build Communities (ABC) Program.

ABC is a program funded by the Tennessee General Assembly and administered in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission and designated agencies throughout Tennessee. Awards range from $500 to $2500 and support community-focused arts projects. Metro Arts is the designated agency for the ABC funds in Davidson County.

These grants will support a variety of projects, including a dance program designed for differently abled children; a cultural street festival in North Nashville; a STEAM-based mural project highlighting the relationship between math and artistic design; storytelling workshops for refugees and immigrants, among others. Funded projects and activities will take place between Aug. 17, 2017 and June 15, 2018.
