Slovenian president Borut Pahor on a working visit to Berlin at the invitation of German president Steinmeier

Berlin, 28. 4. 2022 | press release

Slovenian president Borut Pahor and his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier met in Berlin today for a working meeting.

The two men took the opportunity to hold in-depth discussions regarding the political situation in Europe and around the world. They discussed the Russian aggression in Ukraine and expressed deep concern at this major violation of international law. They agreed that it was vital that the Russian attacks come to an end as soon as possible and that diplomacy again be given a chance to create a peaceful solution.

Presidents Pahor and Steinmeier exchanged views on the situation in the Western Balkans, with Mr Pahor outlining his thoughts on the current conditions in the region and on plans for a meeting between the leaders of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, which this time round is due to take place in Slovenia and involve Croatian president Milanović. President Steinmeier took part in a meeting of the Brdo-Brijuni Process in 2017.

Today's working visit to Berlin by President Pahor represents a continuation of the regular presidential-level dialogue between Slovenia and Germany, a process that is of significant benefit to both countries.
