Recap of City Council Meeting on August 16, 2022

At the City Council meeting on August 16, 2022, retiring City Attorney Greg Stepanicich was recognized for his 24 years of dedicated service to the City of Fairfield. A reception was held in his honor prior to the meeting, where current employees and retirees paid tribute to Greg. Greg had a 45-year law career in municipal law and served the City of Fairfield diligently and professionally. We congratulate him on a stellar career and wish him a well-deserved retirement!

Next, Community Development Management Analyst Jonathan Luong awarded the winners of the first Youth Photo Contest in Fairfield--Michael Lamb and Markus Taliaferro. They proudly accepted the awards, along with their families. Samantha Atwood was unable to attend.

Markus Taliaferro won the $125 first prize in two categories. His photo of "Larry's Produce" was first in the Landmark category, and his photo "Glass Architecture in Downtown," a picture of the county government center, won in the Downtown category.

Michael Lamb labeled his photo of a smiling little girl in pink overalls as "Hope for Our Future Through Our Roots." It took first in the Faces of Fairfield category. Finally, Samantha Atwood's photo, "Rockville Hiking Trails," won in the Nature category. Check out their award wining photos at Fairfield.ca.gov/photo.

Last, Councilmember Chuck Timm presented a proclamation, "National Suicide Prevention Week" to Charlene Noveras, a member of the Solano County Suicide Committee, and Tracy Lacey, the Senior Mental Health Services Coordinator from Solano County Behavioral Health, who thanked Council and staff for highlighting such a significant topic at the Council meeting. Ms. Lacey stated, "That although the statistics are daunting, recognizing the issue and speaking about it in public, helps to destigmatize mental health."
