Washington, December 7, 2019. Double performance by pianist Maria Perrotta in Washington (5-6 December 2019). An internationally renowned pianist from Calabria, Maria Perrotta has several albums to her credit. In 2013 the Decca record company released its performance of Beethoven's Sonate for Piano 30, 31 and 32. The recording received enthusiastic reviews from leading music magazines, including Gramophone, and from major national and international newspapers. Through her interpretations, articulate and innovative, she obtained awards in numerous and prestigious international competitions.
The first concert was held on the evening of December 5 at the Embassy of Italy. Perrotta captured the audience with pieces by Robert Schumann, Gabriele Cosmi and Ludwig van Beethoven. On the evening of December 6 the artist performed at the residence of the Ambassador of Italy, Armando Varricchio, in the presence of the President of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Deborah Rutter, of members of the board of the prestigious institution and of numerous personalities of Washington's cultural scene. Both events were organized in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and the Comitato Nazionale Italiano Musica.
The event at the residence was held on the occasion of the 42nd edition of the Kennedy Center Honors, awards that will be presented Sunday December 8 by the prestigious American cultural institution to people who have distinguished themselves for their contribution to art and culture. This year the awards will be presented to Earth, Wind & Fire, Sally Field, Linda Ronstadt, Sesame Street and Michael Tilson Thomas.
