Estonian ambassador to Azerbaijan presents her credentials

On 12 June, Estonian Ambassador Annely Kolk presented her credentials to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The ambassador resides in Ankara, Turkey.

Ambassador Kolk said she was glad that the two countries had good and friendly relations with great potential, and in particular that there were opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation in economy, education and culture. In addition to excellent professional contacts in international organisations and between diplomatic missions, contacts between ministries and parliaments could also be boosted. At her meetings with officials, it was noted that Estonia and Azerbaijan should pay more attention to business diplomacy to increase the turnover of foreign trade and advance economic cooperation.

Touching on Nagorno-Karabakh, Annely Kolk underlined the need to avoid new casualties. 'Conditions must be created for regional stability in the Southern Caucasus,' Kolk said.

The ambassador extended her condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

On her visit to Baku, the ambassador met with representatives of state agencies and the local Estonian community.
Ambassador Kolk also took part in a regional visit to Agdam organised by the government of Azerbaijan.

Annely Kolk joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999. From August 2019, she has been the Estonian ambassador to Turkey.
