National Assembly Speaker Meets with Dominican Prime Minister

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit to discuss the advancement of cooperation and bilateral relations.

Speaker Brnabic said she was honoured and most grateful that Prime Minister Skerrit has chosen to visit and support Serbia in these extremely challenging times.

The Speaker emphasised her readiness to promote the development of economic relations and provide support in the field of education for students from Dominica's participation in the "World in Serbia" project, which provides annual scholarships to about two hundred students from countries around the world, which she believes can be the foundation of bilateral relations and cooperation in the future.

The officials agreed that the relations between the two countries are good and friendly, with the hope that the dynamics of the development of positive relations will continue, and that the agreements signed during Prime Minister Skerrit's previous visit to Serbia can contribute to this. They also discussed the establishment of a Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Brnabic also thanked Dominica for the decision to suspend the recognition of the independence of the southern Serbian province, which confirmed not only the friendship between the two countries, but the Commonwealth of Dominica's commitment to the fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter as well.

The Chairperson of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Marina Ragus also attended the meeting.
