On November 13, 2017, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals will implement Next Gen CM/ECF.
Next Gen CM/ECF includes significant enhancements for public filers. They include:
Elimination of Java plug-in requirement - Users will no longer have to download and regularly update Java on their computers in order to file.
Increased browser compatibility - Next Gen CM/ECF is compatible with Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Internet Explorer and Safari.
Enhanced user interface - The public filer interface has been updated and improved. Check out the Preview to see what changes are coming.
Central/single sign on - Public filers will utilize an Upgraded PACER account credentials to log in to Next Gen CM/ECF. Eventually, all federal courts will require Upgraded PACER credentials for access. In order to prepare for Next Gen CM/ECF public filers should ensure they have an INDIVIDUALUpgraded PACER account.
