08.09.2020 (10:28)

The crews of the Su-24M bombers of the Southern Military District aviation regiment, stationed in the Volgograd region, destroyed command posts and ammunition caches of the mock enemy at night as part of a tactical flight exercise at the Kapustin Yar training ground in the Astrakhan region.

Su-24M crews performed about 15 planned sorties with combat use of unguided missiles and bombing.

The pilots also practiced takeoff and landing on the illuminated strip, performed complex aerobatics and combat maneuvering, including at low altitudes (from 200 to 1,000 meters). Among the compulsory elements of the exercises is an imitation of air combat with a bomb strike against ground targets.

In total, about 1,000 military personnel of flight and engineering staff and more than 300 pieces of aviation, including about 50 operational-tactical planes were involved in the flight exercise.
