Our Meet the Hiring Manager series lets you get to know the people who grow teams at VMware. You'll learn about our hiring managers' career paths and what they look for in candidates during the interview process. In this feature, we'd like you to meet Anushree Mital.
VMware Careers: Tell us about your career journey to date.
Anushree: I started my career as a college co-op intern in a small startup named Archetype Inc. as a Technical Support Engineer. Then, I worked full-time at Bitstream Inc, Garnter Inc, and Walt Disney World in the roles of QA manager, QA Engineer, and Technical Lead. I have been working at VMware for eleven years and six months. I joined VMware in 2008 as a Senior Performance and Resiliency Engineer in their Digital Assurance and Quality Engineering (DAQE) team under Digital Experience Engineering (DEE) organization and was promoted to Lead Performance Engineer, where I was the single point of contact for performance and resiliency testing for all IT applications. In 2020, I was again promoted to Senior Manager for IT applications in the same organization, managing a team for performance and resiliency and handling functional and automation testing for multiple IT projects.
VMware Careers: How is VMware different from any other tech company you have previously worked for?
Anushree: VMware has many benefits related to continuous learning and wellness. It also has remote working opportunities, leadership transparency, a diverse culture focused on inclusion, emphasis on EPIC2 (Execution, Passion, Integrity, Customers, Community) values, and use of the latest technology. These factors make VMware stand out from all the other companies I have worked for.
VMware Careers: What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Anushree: The thought that I will get to learn something new, that I get to enjoy my passion, and having a fantastic group of people to work with gets me out of bed every morning.
VMware Careers: What has been the biggest lesson you have learned as you moved upwards in your career?
Anushree: The biggest lessons I have learned are that you must be persistent and passionate about your work. I discovered early in my career that I liked performance engineering and was persistent in this passion.
VMware Careers: What makes the team you lead so effective?
Anushree: I lead and manage teams that perform performance, resiliency, functional, and automation testing for IT projects within the IT DAQE (Digital Assurance and Quality Engineering) organization. My team's goal is to ensure that customers' and business needs and expectations are met in terms of quality while adhering to industry best practices.
VMware Careers: If someone reading this was coming to an interview tomorrow, what tips would you give them?
Anushree:
It's important that you interview us as much as we are interviewing you!
