The School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal will hold, on November 21 and 22, with the collaboration of the Hospital da Luz de Setúbal, the International Symposium on Sleep, Exercise and Health Research.
'Physical exercise is considered as a complex activity that may be beneficial to the general well-being, and may also contribute to the loss of internal balance,' explains the organizing committee. 'In fact, the different exercise protocols (e.g. aerobic, anaerobic, high intensity and volume) and interactions with individual characteristics (e.g. fitness, age and gender) raise doubts about current evidence supporting only one beneficial effect of exercise at sleep level. In addition, the tendency to study the impact of physical activity on small groups with optimal sleep hygiene may underestimate the role of exercise in promoting good sleep quality, 'they add.
Aimed at doctors, researchers, students, senior health technicians and sports, nutrition and other health professionals interested in this theme, the symposium aims to constitute 'a time for different national and international experts to present, discuss, disseminate information and exchange ideas in the fields of sleep medicine, exercise, sports and health. '
In addition to plenary sessions, parallel sessions and round table discussions, there will also be poster presentations, thematic exhibitions and booths and short intensive courses.
Date and place: 21 and 22/11/2019, Noble Auditorium of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal.
