Dr. Emily Mieras will discuss the roots of women's suffrage activism during a free presentation at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave.
She will also review suffrage strategies, the controversies that shaped it, and the factors that led to the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920. Additionally, she will discuss contemporary challenges facing women fighting for full representation in American politics.
Dr. Mieras is an associate professor of history and American studies at Stetson University.
