Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu holds talks with Serbian Interior Minister

In Moscow, Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu held a working meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia.

Starting the negotiations, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu noted that Aleksandr Vulin, the ex-Minister of Defence of Serbia, had now arrived in Russia in a new capacity, and expressed confidence that in his current position he would do everything possible to develop bilateral relations. .

"Cooperation between Russia and Serbia has become dynamic and multifaceted in recent years," General of the Army Sergei Shoigu said. According to him, the results of the recent meeting of the presidents of Russia Vladimir Putin and Serbia Aleksandar Vucic became another confirmation of this: "The presidents of our countries agreed on the further development of bilateral cooperation in various fields, including in the military sphere."

"We are continuing our military cooperation. Joint exercises are being held. There are more and more of them every year. The program of our military cooperation is expanding. Military-technical cooperation is also being carried out successfully. The program that we outlined many years ago is being implemented in stages, in a timely manner, on time and in the volumes that we agreed on," Sergei Shoigu added.

He noted that those cases that were started with the participation of Alexander Vulin when he was the head of the military department of the republic with the support of the Russian Ministry of Defence are being completed, which serves as a serious factor in strengthening the defence capability of Serbia." "I hope this will continue to be so," said the head of the Russian military department.

In turn, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia, Aleksandr Vulin, announced the purchase of new Russian-made air defence systems: We received Cornets. We received tanks, we received armored personnel carriers, we are buying new Pantsir," said Alexander Vulin.

Also, the head of the Serbian Interior Ministry conveyed personal greetings to Sergei Shoigu and great gratitude for cooperation from the President of Serbia.

"Everything that we have agreed on is being done," stressed Alexander Vulin, addressing Sergei Shoigu.

In addition, he said that a representative office of the Russian Defence Ministry in Serbia will open in Belgrade in the near future: "We are just waiting for the opening. These are already technical issues," said Alexander Vulin.

During the talks, the ministers discussed key issues of international security, touching the situation in the Balkans.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of friendship and trust and confirmed the mutual disposition for the further development of Russian-Serbian cooperation. The parties exchanged views on the most pressing issues of interaction.
