Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce the launch of Taking Security in Africa: A Comparative Guide for Investors,a comprehensive review of the laws, legal systems and risks associated with investing in Africa. Produced in collaboration with leading law firms in Africa, the resource provides an overview of the types of assets over which security can be taken, the different types of security, as well as the related procedures for the perfection and enforcement of such security in some of the most active jurisdictions for foreign investment on the continent.
'Africa has consistently offered attractive investment opportunities in recent times, yet the risks associated with the complex, overlapping legal systems of the continent's 54 countries and its regional blocs could hamper the next phase of its development,' said Clement Fondufe, global Chair of Latham & Watkins' Africa Practice. 'This new guide provides a useful overview of the key issues investors should be aware of, which is of particular interest to investors who are increasingly looking for transparency and legal certainty.'
The first edition of Taking Security in Africa: A Comparative Guide for Investors focuses on Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria and South Africa. Future editions will include additional jurisdictions in Africa.
