The Universal Postal Congress, hosted by the government of the Côte d'Ivoire, is the Universal Postal Union's quadrennial Congress bringing together representatives of the UN specialized agency's 192 member countries to discuss the international postal sector.
What: The Universal Postal Congress
When: 9-27 August
Where: Sofitel Hotel, Bvd. Hassane 2, Abidjan, Cocody.
Journalists attending the Universal Postal Congress will have the opportunity to cover the following on 9 August:
10 am to noon (GMT+0): The Opening Ceremony in the main conference hall; and
1 pm to 2 pm: A press conference with the Director General of the Universal Postal Union Bishar A. Hussein (TBC)
On 10 August, journalists can attend a UPU Ministerial Strategy Conference bringing together ministers in charge of the postal sector, chiefs of regulatory authorities, heads of intergovernmental agencies and other high-level representatives of organizations to discuss how Posts benefit economies and societies in general.
NOTE: Journalists will have their own working room for the duration of the Congress and there will be a daily briefing on the main events and numerous interview opportunities.
