Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Qatar

On April 28, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in Doha on an official visit, had a meeting with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.

The interlocutors commended the high-level political dialogue developing between the two countries, expressing readiness to expand the bilateral agenda through joint efforts. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized that the positive dynamics of the development of relations are in line with Armenia's intensively developing cooperation with all the countries of the Arab world.

The importance of consistently implementing the agreements reached during the official visit of Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, to the State of Qatar in 2022 and giving an additional impetus to the expansion of relations through similar high-level mutual visits was highlighted.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Qatar stressed the importance of further developing ties in key areas of mutual interest. In this context, the Foreign Minister of Armenia welcomed Qatar's decision in 2023 to open a resident embassy in Yerevan, which followed the decision to open a resident embassy of Armenia in Qatar.

At the meeting between Ararat Mirzoyan and Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani, special attention was paid to the issues of regional interconnectivity. The Foreign Minister of Armenia presented the details and advantages of the "Crossroads of Peace" project developed by the Government of Armenia as a good opportunity for infrastructure development between the Gulf countries and the Black Sea.

Minister Mirzoyan also emphasized that the "Crossroads of Peace" project is yet another proof of Armenia's commitment to the peace agenda, aimed at achieving sustainable peace in the South Caucasus through economic development.

Continuing the topic of regional security, Ararat Mirzoyan briefed Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani on the latest developments in the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, stressing the importance of moving forward in agreeing on the draft peace treaty and the border delimitation process based on the mutual recognition of territorial integrity and the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration.
