10/21/2021 - 4th Annual FORE! Scholarship Golf Classic raises money to benefit local scholarships

Release date: 10/21/2021

ORLAND PARK, IL. (October 21, 2021) - Marquette Bank, a locally-owned neighborhood bank, and the Marquette Bank Education Foundation hosted the 4th annual FORE! Scholarship Golf Classic. This year's event sold out of golfer foursomes and raised $70,000. In conjunction with a matching donation from Marquette Bank, the total amount raised was $140,000. All proceeds benefit the Marquette Bank Education Foundation Scholarship Program providing more than 60 annual scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the Chicagoland area.

"We appreciated this year's event a little more than the others since we didn't know if we were going to be able to hold the outing in person. Thank you to everyone who donated, supported, participated and volunteered for this event," Christie Cox, Director of Neighborhood Strategy. "These funds will contribute to the education of deserving students in our neighborhoods."
The scholarship program started with 12 scholarships of $500 first awarded in 1968. As the bank expanded so did the program. By 2003, the bank established an independent non-profit organization - the Marquette Bank Education Foundation - to administer the program. This year, the Foundation awarded 61 high school seniors each a $2,500 scholarship.
The Foundation's annual Scholarship Program awards one-time scholarships to graduating seniors from high schools in the bank's local communities. Each participating school independently selects their scholarship recipient based on three criteria: Community Service, Academic Achievement and Financial Need. Since 1967, the scholarship program has awarded over $3.7 million to scholarship recipients. Save the date for next year's event - Monday, September 12, 2022!
The Marquette Bank Education Foundation Scholarship Program is part of the Marquette Neighborhood Commitment, where each quarter the bank focuses on a different area of need: shelter, hunger, education and health/wellness. Schools for the 2022 Scholarship Program are announced in January.
