Truck flees from RCMP in Stephenville, police seek assistance identifying driver

Bay St. George RCMP is seeking assistance from the public in identifying the registered owner and/or driver of a vehicle that fled from police in Stephenville on the afternoon of April 17, 2024.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, an officer attempted to stop a pickup truck on Carolina Avenue. The truck failed to stop for police and drove over a number of residential properties causing damage to some lawns. In the interest of public safety, officers did not pursue the vehicle which was last seen on Georgia Drive.

The truck is confirmed as a black Nissan Frontier with a roof rack. An image is attached.

Bay St. George RCMP asks residents and business owners in the area to check for possible surveillance footage of this vehicle from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on April 17, and to report any information to the detachment.

The investigation is continuing.
