Mazen R. Fouany, MD, FACOG, a board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OB/GYN), Medical Director of maternity and children's services at Cole Memorial and Assistant Professor of the Lock Haven University Physician Assistant Program, joins over 700 esteemed authors from leading institutions of reproductive science around the world with his article to be published in the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Reproduction in 2018.

The four-volume set of the Encyclopedia of Reproduction, encompasses every aspect of the biology of reproduction throughout the entire animal kingdom, covering invertebrates to humans. The Encyclopedia is designed to answer any and all questions that students as well as researchers and professionals are seeking on topics outside of their immediate expertise. This publication is mostly utilized at laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, graduate and medical school libraries, departmental libraries, Undergraduate and select high school libraries.

Dr. Fouany's research article, written with Fady I. Sharara, MD, FACOG, titled 'Evaluation & Assisted Reproductive Technology of the High Responder Patient', reviews studies of women undergoing various forms of assisted reproductive techniques (ART) for the management of infertility while addressing the reduction of serious risks for high-responders that develop ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). Several treatment options are outlined for high-responder patients. The article concludes that the segmentation approach (also known as freeze-all) may reduce the risk of OHSS in the high-responder patient without compromising the success rate of ART.

A graduate of the University of Balamand School of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon in 2007, Dr. Fouany completed an internship and OB/GYN residency at the George Washington University Medical Center (GWUMC) in Washington, DC. Additionally, he was a resident of the general surgery program at the St. Georges University Hospital.

Prior to joining Cole Memorial in 2012, Dr. Fouany worked at GWUMC in downtown Washington and the Inova Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia.
