SCB supports “Silpakorn Summer Music School”

SCB supports "Silpakorn Summer Music School" in providing Thai youth with music education opportunities and skills

Siam Commercial Bank has continuously supported the Silpakorn Summer Music School (SSMS) from 2010 until the present time, offering learning opportunities for those interested in western music directly from faculties and experts and letting them share and demonstrate their musical talents. The camp encourages youngsters to spend quality free time to practice teamwork, promoting unity, leadership, the division of duties, and problem solving, and thereby allowing them to grow up to become quality adults while creating music for the benefit of Thai society. At the 17th and latest camp, seventy young participants and players of string instruments such as the violin, viola, cello, double bass, and classical guitar participated in sharpening their musical skills with leading national and international experts. Participants also attended masterclasses and workshops to learn about improvisation and music marketing and to develop ideas for creating music for the benefit of society. The summer camp was held at the Siam Commercial Bank Training Center at Tawanron Beach.

At the end of the camp, young learners performed Simple Symphony by British composer Benjamin Britten and music composed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Bangkok Art and Culture Center under the baton of British conductor Leo Philips. All of the young musicians who took part in the project gained valuable experiences that they can put to use in their future careers while also passing their knowledge and skills on to the next generation.
