Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabollahian's message to the conference honoring Hakim Abu Rayhan Biruni

Dear Iran and the regions surrounding it have been the birthplace of human civilization and sciences for more than 1,000 years, and the region that stretched from Jayhoun to Euphrates has always been counted among the poles of this shining civilization.

Dear Iran and the regions surrounding it have been the birthplace of human civilization and sciences for more than 1,000 years, and the region that stretched from Jayhoun to Euphrates has always been counted among the poles of this shining civilization.

This assertion is backed by the emergence of hundreds of great figures specializing in various fields of science, arts and literature within this period of time and in this geographical zone.

The Great Hakim Abu Rayhan Biruni is one of those eminent figures shining on the peaks of human knowledge and honors.

He is a unique and multi-dimensional personality who is considered to be among front-runners in various scientific fields such as mathematics, astronomy, medicine, history, and philosophy, and among the world's sources of pride, and his scientific achievements and legacy are still among the most precious human treasures after more than a millennium.

Today's world and especially the nations of the region are very pleased to have known a precious gem like Abu Rayhan and have access to his works.

Reviewing Abu Rayhan Biruni's character and works is instructive and significant from various aspects due to his scientific comprehensiveness and multi-dimensionality, but what I would like to lay emphasis on is the two "Islamic" and "transnational" dimensions of this great personality.
On the one hand, the growth and development of Biruni's personality and his rare scientific achievements took place in the cultural atmosphere emanating from Islam, and proves the fact that Islam is a constructive and progressive religion, which considers both the worldly and the afterlife happiness of mankind and considers science the path to this happiness.

On the other hand, Biruni could literally be viewed as the symbol of solidarity among regional nations. Like other sources of pride in the region, he does not fit into narrow racial, geographical and political frameworks and is a transnational and regional personality. He was born and began studying in present-day Uzbekistan; he lived, studied and taught science in Iran's Gorgan; he set off for India to discover the known and was finally laid to rest in today's Afghanistan. Today, the commemoration of Biruni is one of friendship, convergence, and promotion of regional cooperation.

His outstanding personality and blessed life can be a beacon for the movement of the nations and governments of the region toward cultural convergence. While acknowledging the unique importance of cultural cooperation among neighboring countries and nations, the country's diplomatic apparatus sees itself duty-bound to make optimal use of the opportunity to commemorate prominent cultural figures such as Abu Rayhan Biruni in order to bring regional nations closer and fulfil the neighborly policy of the 13th administration.

On that basis, I need to thank all the organizers of the conference and all those who hosted us as guests of his 1050th birthday anniversary, especially the Iranology Foundation.
