Overnight Lane Closures on I-20 at the Georgia-South Carolina State Line

Overnight Lane Closures Planned for the I-20 at Savannah River Bridge Project
AUGUSTA - Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) construction partners will implement overnight lane closures as part of the I-20 at Savannah River Bridge project to prepare for a traffic shift for ongoing bridge construction.

Monday, May 6, 9 p.m. until Tuesday, May 7, 7 a.m.
  • Single right lane closure on I-20 eastbound from mile marker (MM) 200 in Georgia to MM 1 in South Carolina.

Tuesday, May 7, 9 p.m. until Wednesday, May 8, 7 a.m.
  • Single right lane closure on I-20 eastbound from mile marker (MM) 200 in Georgia to MM 1 in South Carolina.

Wednesday, May 8, 10 p.m. until Wednesday, May 8, 7 a.m.
  • Single right lane closure on I-20 eastbound from mile marker (MM) 200 in Georgia to MM 1 in South Carolina until approximately 2 a.m.
  • A single left lane closure will be implemented from approximately 2 a.m. until 7 a.m.

Following these closures, traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed roadway from the Augusta Canal Bridge to the South Carolina Welcome Center off-ramp. Motorists are advised to expect delays and drive with caution through the work zone while navigating the new configuration.
