Apply for a City Board, Committee or Commission!

Get involved! Have a voice in city government! Join a City Board, Committee, or Commission!

Serving on a City of Florence Board, Commission, or Committee is one way members of the public can volunteer and get involved with their city government. The committees serve mostly in an advisory capacity to the City by providing expertise, identifying public concerns and focuses, and reviewing, advocating for and enforcing policies and regulations. However, Boards, Committees, and Commissions also dedicate hundreds of hours in performing work through public education, research, and study. Committee appointments are approved by the Mayor after review by the City Council.

The Florence Planning Commission is a decision-making body for planning and land use matters. Advising the Mayor, Council, and Planning Director, the Commission reviews and recommends on the Comprehensive Plan, subdivision and zoning ordinances, and other planning regulations. Additionally, it acts as the Design Review board, ensuring proposed developments align with city ordinances through public hearings and other actions. Join us in shaping the future of Florence!
